How to remove GPS location from photos
A JPEG can retain the place where it was taken. Check metadata before sharing an original and export a location-free copy when the recipient does not need it.
What to check
EXIF GPS commonly includes latitude and longitude, and may include altitude, direction and time. Availability depends on device settings and whether a location fix was available.
Remember: metadata removal does not hide visible clues such as street signs, house numbers or recognisable scenery.
Steps
- Select JPEG files in the editor.
- Open a photo, find GPS fields and clear latitude and longitude.
- Download the modified copy or create a batch ZIP.
- Open the exported file again and confirm that it has no coordinates.
Keep the original separately if location is valuable to your private archive.
